After 43 years the Day School Ministry of St. Mark Lutheran Church is being discontinued. The Voting members of St. Mark in a special Voter’s Meeting held after church Sunday, March 21st indicated by a majority of Voters that they feel it is time to redirect to other ministries, the gifts of time, talent, and treasure with which God has so richly blessed our congregation and members.
We thank God for the blessing of being one of the unique congregations to have sponsored a school, and for the blessing of being one of the very few to have, for so many years, provided for our members the opportunity for an essentially fully funded Christian education. It speaks to the special generosity and commitment of the St. Mark family.
The children, families, friends, and staff that have filled the halls, classrooms, yard, and sanctuary have added a vibrancy, life, and example that have been incomparable. The laughter, learning, and relationships will ring through our building, hearts, and memory forever. Only once we are in heaven will we be able to fully appreciate the impact the school ministry has had on lives and souls.
We thank God for the courageous, forward-thinking, St. Mark members whose vision brought about our school, and for the supporters, children, families, and staff who have helped it flourish. We thank God that they had the passion to spread the gospel. We pray that our hearts will compel us to honor them by burning as brightly as we go forward, in a direction that we feel called in faith to take.
We challenge ourselves to be true to the best spirit of our school to, in unity, work to see that the halls, seats, and pews of St. Mark will soon, again, be filled with the excitement, energy, and expectancy that propelled our school through its years of success. We pray that God will show us the best way to use his gifts to accomplish the vision He has given us to Bring People In, Build Disciples Up, and Send Christians On.
